Hi!
I brought this New Look 6120 from Simplicity a while ago and I was afraid to try it.
Isn't that a pretty dress? Do you think it would hide little bumps around the belly? I certainly hope so! I've got the pattern pieces cut out - just need to measure to make sure it will fit right. I'm in between at least two sizes. The upper bust is smaller than the hip area. I haven't mastered that yet.
So here's the fabric I'm planning on using. It's a charmeuse which the pattern suggests:
It's slippery, which worries me. I read that I should use a rotary cutter and starch the fabric. I don't have starch but I do have a cutting mat and rotary cutter - should I try my luck? he he I probably will anyway.
So I hope to make this over the next few days. Wish me luck!
Oh and if you've made this pattern - let me know what you thought and I'd love to see a pic :)
And if you have a blog - send me a link - I love to see what people do :)
UPDATE:
I spend a lot of my evenings researching information on other blogs before I start cutting and slicing my fabric. Here's what I found tonight on Gertie's New Blog for Better Sewing:

Gertie's blog is so awesome. I have seen a lot of bloggers linking to her site for info.
and she had this on her site too:

Isn't that dress gorgeous!!! I'm not that thin so I can't wear it that way! But, my charmeuse is polyester (eek) not silk. I guess it's safe to start cutting and slicing - I got it on sale so I won't be devastated if it doesn't come out right.
I'll keep researching and I think I will start linking lots of info back to where I find it. There are so many talented sewers out there ~ I hope to be as good as them someday :)
