I found a Wrap Top Pattern!

I've been obsessing over a wrap top for a few weeks now.  I HAVE to have one.  I've order the Pavlova wrap top that Steph C from sewingcake.com has coming out.  Today is the last day of the pre-sale FYI.  Unfortunately, I have to wait till February to get it! wah, I want it now.  So my search continued.

Welll, I found a pattern on Ebay that just might work.

 It's an 80's pattern I think but the polka dot view top is just what I'm looking for...maybe.  I really want something that will work with jersey or a double knit.  Maybe a  little longer on the hips too - kind of like a peplum look but wrapped.  Do you know what I mean?  I think it'll make a cute summer top.

Well, it's ordered since it was listed for a GREAT price.  It looks simple enough but I'm still going to make a muslin for it once I get it. 

I tried making one out of Simplicity 1880 - mmm yeah, not so much.

Wrap Tops

Sadly, I haven't made one.  But, I really, really want one just like the one in the pic above.  (I'm not sure where I found that picture but I'll link as soon as I remember).

Can't you just picture that in a nice pair of jeans and brown boots?  Yes, me too - so I'm trying to make one.

I've seen a few that I really like on other blogs.  Mimi G made one a few months ago here  using New Look 6149 and I can't find that pattern ANYWHERE.  I'd love to get that pattern and make that top.

So I thought, maybe, just maybe I can make one myself?  hehe

I'm not sure if my thought process is correct in this but I thought that maybe I could take the wrap style bodice of Simplicity 1880 and use that as a template. 





Then again, maybe I should just be a little patient and wait for this one

I'm definitely going to get Steph's new pattern, but in the meantime, I'll try to come up with a version of my own using Simplicity 1880.  I've cut the pieces out and I've lengthen the bodice by quite a few inches.  I'm basting it together.  I'm crossing my fingers and hoping it comes out well.
